Windows 10: Windows 11 taskbar shows default widget icon instead of weather icon

Dear Microsoft Community,I'm running windows 11 version 22H2 build 22621.963 and I'm facing an issue with the widgetsThe icon on the taskbar used to show the weather status, however for a while it's been only showing the default widget iconIf I turn off my wifi connection and restart my laptop it shows a grayed-out weather icon, otherwise it shows the default widget iconI tried some fixes on my own:- turning off and on widgets from taskbar settings- running sfc- running DISM- signing out of my user profile- ending the widgets task- signing out and in from the widgets- removing the weather from

News and weather widget on taskbar not showing weather, just a newspaper icon

After a recent Windows update, my News and interests icon got stuck showing rain (but no temperature), even though I had it set to "Show icon and text", and the rain was long gone. An additional reboot got it going again.

But I still had the original problem. Periodically, the icon switches from weather to financial reporting. Finally, I found an article which told me how to fix (or at least, modify) that: How to Configure Windows 10’s Weather & News Taskbar Widget (howtogeek.com). Although I hate the "Open on hover" feature, and normally have it turned off, it's necessary to temporarily turn it on, in order to perform the procedures described in the article.

 

Weather icon not showing on Windows 11 taskbar, just a widget icon.

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

In Windows 11, the weather icon was removed from the taskbar, along with a lot of other taskbar functionality.

On the Insider builds, Microsoft are bringing back some of that functionality and some new functionality, the weather icon is one of the features they are bringing back.

Some people are reporting they now have the weather app on the taskbar, while many others do not, that is being rolled out on a phased basis, so if you do not have that icon yet, you will have it in time, there is currently no setting to manually enable that yet.

Windows 11 weather taskbar widget is amazing but when I login to computer it shows only widget icon. It takes 5 to 10 minutes to show weather. I want it to show weather when logging in without delay. See the screenshot below. Help!
