Windows 10: Windows 11: The operating system is not curretly configured to run this application

Last week I noticed that an icon for a PowerPoint presentation saved to the desktop had changed to a white icon. This PowerPoint presentation is a slideshow that is run every Sunday at my church standard announcements. Puzzled, I clicked on the icon and got the following message: The Operating System is not currently configured to run this application. I also got an additional message stating that the program PowerPoint was not the default app for this file, do you want to change the file extension associated with this program? I answered yes and it told me to go to Settings>apps>d

Even after doing all the above steps still my problem is not resolved. Please suggest some solution.

I see that you are getting pop up "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application" while you are opening Microsoft Edge. This might be due to the software conflicts in the system.

Please follow the below methods and check if it helps,

Method 1: Boot the system in Safe Mode and check if it helps.

I suggest you to login to safe mode with networking and check the status of the issue. To enter into Safe Mode in Windows 10, follow the steps given below.

• Restart your PC.
• Press Shift + Restart button to restart.
• Click See Advanced Repair Options.
• Click Troubleshoot.
• Click Advanced Options.
• Click Windows Startup Settings.
• Click Restart.
• You then see a list where you can choose Safe Mode with Networking.

If the issue still persists perform a clean boot on the system and check if it helps.

Method 2: Perform a Clean boot on the system.

Perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.
