Windows 10: Windows 11 thinks my laptop display is a wired display, I because of that I can't adjust...

Laptop crashed while external monitor plugged in. Since then, I am unable to use an external monitor as it never detects it, I am unable to adjust the brightness on my laptop display and, as seen in my screenshot, windows now thinks my laptop display is a wired display. I am out of ideas!

How do you know its the display that's bad?

Laptop display does not detect itself

In regards to your concern, since the second screen can't detect the display settings of your other laptop, we suggest that you perform the steps below and see if it helps:

• Go to Settings.
• Click on System.
• Under System, choose Display.
• Under Multiple displays, click on Duplicate these displays and apply.

Step 1: I suggest you to update the Display drivers
and check if it helps you.

Refer:
Uninstall and Reinstall the graphics card drivers

If that doesn't help uninstall and reinstall latest graphic driver from manufacturer's website.

Note: Update all the drivers and also install all the pending updates and check.

Step 2: After installing and Updating refer the below steps to check how to automatically adjust the brightness.

• Press Windows + I keys and select System.
• Select Display and check the Adjust brightness automatically
• Restart the machine.
