Windows 10: Windows 11 throttles and massively slows down WiFi and Ethernet performance under battery...

This is more of a statement than a question.My HP865 G9 laptop upgraded itself recently to Windows 11......yes, please read the disgust in that statement. I have worked diligently for the last several weeks to get Windows 11 working for me. Ultimately, I have failed and am going to re-install Windows 10 and potentially just start using Linux Mint full time.Ethernet performance on AC power over 2.5GBe has dropped precipitously. In Windows 10, I was getting close to the line rate of 270MB/s when transferring large files. Under Windows 11, this has dropped to 160MB/s. I've made a bunch of c

Peculiar performance degradation/throttling

So my laptop is having this weird memory/performance degradation issue for the last little while and I'm kinda at my wits end with how to fix it. Basically everything stops working even though the memory, cpu and heat are all seem unstressed.

Everything seems fine except nothing works. The overall performance drops massively, games crash shortly after opening, video's won't play or even open, the audio completely stops working. Everything just becomes incredibly sluggish. Hibernating or sleeping just causes it to restart. I've attempted various fixes like updating windows, all the drivers, increasing the ram, going from windows 10 to 11, changing chargers, increasing the page file massively, then even the laptop itself but nothing changes. To me it clearly seems like it's some sort of throttling issue but I can't figure out what. As two different laptops both had the same issue, to me that suggests either windows setting or an external power. I mean, as far as I can, everything is working as it should be; the system just won't multitask to the same level as before. Specs: Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 i7-12700H RTX 3070 Laptop GPU 8GB GDDR6 64 GB DDR5-4800MHz Windows 11 version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.521) / Windows 10 (whatever the latest version was)

 

Ethernet throttled after swapping from ethernet to wifi to ethernet again

Hello,

I'd like to report an issue I have that arises when I unplug the ethernet on my desktop (to use on another device) and swap to a USB wifi adapter I have and then swap back later to the ethernet, unplugging the wifi adapter.

It appears that windows (or something, my router?) throttles the speed of the ethernet after I have done this, and until I restart the computer, the speeds I achieve don't generally go above 2 Mbps. Once I restart, they go back to the general speeds I receive
(and pay for) of around 80+ Mbps.

Is there any explanation for this? I find it quite annoying that I have to restart my PC so that it can get the network speeds that it usually gets just because I swap between wifi and ethernet.

Prevent Cpu throttle on Battery

Hello,

I recently upgraded my Laptop by adding an SSD with windows 10 pro.

Now I noticed the computer throttles the cpu frequency whenever I'm on battery even on high performance profile.
(In task manager I can see cpu frequency instantly dropping from 2.3-2.5 to 1.2 GHz as soone as I unplug the AC adapter).

The issue is not bios related and It does not happen on Ubuntu nor window 7( I mesured and the cpu frequency does not change when I unplug).

I tried the following:
- High performance profile.
- increased "minimum processor state" in power plan settings to 60% (https://i2.wp.com/www.techconsumergu...ng?w=452&ssl=1)
- Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Power Throttling Settings and I Enabled the "turn off power throttling"


Still windows 10 throttles whenever I'm on battery.

Can someone suggest a solution for this?
