  1. Windows 11 TPM Questions

Hello. I have a Ryzen 5 5600X and Gigabyte B450 Auros PRO WIFI motherboard on my PC that I built myself. I have upgraded my laptop to Windows 11 and like it so far, but am still on 10 on my PC as I am confused about the TPM requirement. I know there are firmware TPM FTPM and dedicated TPM DTPM. The module I would need for DTPM is being scalped. I ordered one on backorder at a non-scalped price, but I still have not received it after a month and a half. I can cancel the order. I turned on the ftpm in my BIOS settings, and the PC Health Check says I am good to go for Windows 11, so I might

    TPM support

The TPM 2.0 specifications can be implemented by a hardware chip, in which case it will be listed in the bios as 'TPM'. Newer processors can also support a firmware implementation of TPM 2.0. This is where it gets confusing as that may be listed in the bios as fTPM or PTT. All implementations of TPM 2.0, hardware or firmware, will meet the W11 requirements.

Need help on whether to clear TPM on not

It's clear as mud. As far as I can tell, it's specific to Windows, not necessarily activated programs like MacAfee, games, etc etc etc. MS Office, I have no idea.

    Here's a lengthy doc on it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...initialize-and-configure-ownership-of-the-tpm

    TPM update

Don't know if this is the right place for this thread but whatever, laptop informed me that " a firmware update is needed for you security processor (TPM)," now, i looked up what to do and from a microsoft support thing, the last step says to clear the tpm. it has a warning saying to back up my data, i would like to know what clearing the tpm does, and what measures i need to take to make sure nothing goes wrong.
