Windows 10: Windows 11 update 24H2 and Remote Desktop Connection

Before update all fine, after update not so much.I will insert before and after pictures:After update it did something with the video drivers or settings:And this was with the Highest Quality 32 bit setting in the Display configuration in RDC. If I set it to 16 bit then some background colors are completely transparant. You can test it easy by moving a window in a RDC. It will leave a trace of borders:Tested it on 3 different devices so it has to be something in the update 24H2

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):

2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:

3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:

4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):

   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.

 

Remote Desktop

Okay guys need some help here before going crazy...
I am trying to setup a remote desktop connection and see exactly what the logged on user is looking at with out going through Windows Remote Desktop.

Since its local network I don't have any password or want to setup a password.

Any suggestions are appreciated

3.Change the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) version.

To do this, open the Remote Desktop app and go to Settings > Show advanced settings. Select a different RDP version from the drop-down list and click OK.

4.Set a static IP address for your remote computer.

This can help to resolve connection problems. To do this, open the Network Connections window and right-click on your remote computer's connection. Select Properties and go to the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) tab. Enter a static IP address in the IP address and Subnet mask fields. Click OK to save your changes.

5.Reinstall the Remote Desktop app.

To do this, open the Start menu and search for Remote Desktop. Right-click on the app and select Uninstall. Once the app is uninstalled, restart your computer and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
