Windows 10: Windows 11 Update and turn off screen after X minutes.

After the 2023-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5030219 was applied, the turn off my screen after x minutes setting is having some issues. Basically, the screen will turn off after the configured X minutes as expected. However, the screen comes back on immediately after the turn off screen is triggered. It was working fine prior to the aforementioned update.

Windows 11 locks my screen after 1 minute

On my new Windows 11 laptop, the screen locks after 1 minute, no matter what settings I change. Things I've tried:

• Power plan setting: Turn off display after 4 minutes (both battery and plugged in)
  
• Advanced power plan setting: Sleep / Sleep after 4 minutes (battery/plugged in)
  
• Advanced power plan setting: System unattended sleep timeout after 4 minutes (battery/plugged in)
  
• Advanced power plan setting: Display / Turn off display after 4 minutes (battery/plugged in)
  
• Advanced power plan setting: Display / Console lock display off timeout after 4 minutes (battery/plugged in)
  
• System > Power & Battery setting: Screen and Sleep / Turn off my screen after 4 minutes (battery/plugged in) (also recommended here)
  
• Set the screensaver to "none"
  

At this point I'm stumped. Anything else that might be causing this?

 

Windows 10 Creators Update - lock screen timeout

Before the Creator's update, I had my desktop set to turn off the display and lock the screen after 10 minutes. Now the display turns off, but the screen is not locked. I tried the suggestion:

• Press Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type these commands and press Enter afterwards:
  • powercfg.exe /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_VIDEO VIDEOCONLOCK 60
    
  • powercfg.exe /SETACTIVE SCHEME_CURRENT
• Note that the 60 is the number of seconds your prefer.
• Exit Command Prompt and lock your screen. Observe if the changes will take effect.

This does not lock the screen on my system. I rebooted after I made the change. I did change the time from 60 to 600.

 

Usb devices go for a sleep every x minutes - Windows 10

Method 2: Update
the latest mouse and also USB drivers and check if that helps:

Try these steps:

• 
  Press “Windows Key + X” from the keyboard.
  
• 
  Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Right click on the mouse and the USB drivers and select
  “Update”.
  

If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the latest mouse and USB drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
