Windows 10: Windows 11 Update Check In

So I understand Windows 10 devices check in randomly every 17 to 22 hours with an offset of a couple of hours to check Microsoft for updates but I'm a little confused on how Windows 11 behaves. We currently use Intune Windows Update Rings to managed updates for our endpoints. I use a company issued Windows 11 laptop almost every day and the last time it checked for updates was 7/12/2023. So it's been about a month since the last check in so why the long dead period? I would've expect it to check in a few times in between.

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

The Check for updates small window currently does not show what I ask to be added - program version. Please consider adding this. Many other programs have this, so I suggest for GPU-Z to have it too.

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.
