Windows 10: Windows 11 update ignoring paused updates, causing data loss on overnight tasks.

Windows 11 is ignoring the Pause Updates feature and installing updates that require restarts, and automatically restarting while the update feature is paused. I pause for 1 week at a time and check for updates manually every Tuesday. To head off the 'you can't postpone updates forever' before it starts.The Update menu states "Updates paused unil 9/19/2023" with a button to resume or extend.I discovered this morning that Windows had installed and restarted to apply a configuration update at 4:30 in the morning.Event 1074, User32 - 9/17/2023 4:15:03The process C:\WINDOWS\uus\package

First step isn't right click.

The download is a zip file. The program is portable.







If you can't even run that, and given other issues, and the length of this thread, and if an in-place upgrade repair install won't help, suggest you're looking at a clean install.

 

Windows11 update can lead to data loss ?

I am continuously getting reminders to update Windows10 to 11. I am keep ignoring it fearing the data loss. I have only one Drive "C" Drive where I have whole of my critical data, with no back-up. Now windows is forcing me to upgrade. Can you ensure I won't be having data loss ?
