Windows 10: Windows 11 update installed 10/11/2023 killed my laptop

Two days ago, I tried installing the latest Windows update on my home laptop, an Acer Windows 11 machine. I started it so it would run overnight, but when I got up the next morning, my drive fan was running non-stop and the screen was showing a BSOD with a QR code on it. The bottom of the screen was flickering with garbage colors. The BSOD showed the completion percentage of the update and said it was trying to find a fix, but I got the impression it had been that way all night. how to fix 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5023706)

Why would an in-place Upgrade solve this problem? I did all the steps listed here but not the in-place update. The error I see in the Windows update window is "Download error - 0x8024401c" for 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5023706). Its been logging this error since 3/17/2023

Note that on 2/15 everything seemed fine:

Installing W10 on this Laptop

HP Stream 11 under Windows 10 - Touchpad not recognized.

Are you making sure you are trying the correct driver for the WiFi... They list Broadcom, Intel, and/or Realtek.

Also, try to run the installer as an administrator install.

If that fails... try extracting the files and manually install the driver.
