Windows 10: Windows 11 update keeps reverting to older Intel graphics driver

Hi,I'm running WIndows 11 Insider Preview on my Asus laptop and I update to newer builds as soon as they are released. But I have a major issue that is annoying me very much since a few months.I have an Intel integrated GPU in my laptop, and it came with driver version 27.xx. This driver version has a well known bug that causes memory leak in DWM and shoots memory usage to more than 1 GB. It is fixed in the driver version 30.xx released a few months ago and I have installed it manually using Intel's official installer.But as soon as Windows installed a new Insider Preview build or a feature up

Windows Update keeps installing older Intel Graphics driver

Windows 10 - 17134.191 Update insists installing and older Intel Graphics driver over the manually installed newest version available. Only started doing this recently. How do I stop this from happening?

 

Windows 10 Updates installed older Intel Graphics Drivers

I just updated my Intel HD Graphics Drivers using the Intel Driver Update Utility. After successfully installing and rebooting my system, I noticed that Windows Update decided to reinstall the graphics drivers. I checked to find that the new drivers were
an older version. I had installed the 15.33.38.64.4252 drivers, and they were overwritten by the 10.18.15.4279 drivers.

My question is: why is this happening? How can I prevent Windows Update from overwriting drivers?

EDIT: Further investigating indicates that it wasn't Windows Update that was installing the older graphics drivers, it was the Intel Driver Update Utility that keeps getting old drivers. WU was trying to overwrite the old drivers that IDUU installed, and
that resulted in conflicts and blue screens. I uninstalled the drivers, let WU do its thing, and all is working fine.

My guess is that the 10.18.15.4279 drivers are the latest stable version, according to Microsoft. The manual download for these drivers are here (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25308/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-). However,
the latest drivers are here (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25489/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-),
but I guess these have yet to be signed off by Microsoft.

Can someone please confirm this? Should I download the latest drivers, or just leave it to WU?

intel hd graphics driver keeps stopping on windows 10

2. no, I did not make any changes, this has always been this way since I bought it (I got it with win10 installed already)

I went to intel and found a driver, but it is older than what I have installed now.

Running the troubleshooter gets to where it says these drivers are older than what I already have and asks if I want to overwrite them. I was a bit nervous about saying yes, but I did so anyway.

If I click on update driver, it starts to download new ones, presumably the ones I had, so I cancelled that.

I'll test this older one out and see what happens.
