Windows 11 update stopped. Reconstructing cache. Can’t force shut down.

Windows 11 update today ended up with persistent Reconstructing Cache Metadata. Never resolved off this black screen & circling message. 2017 & 2018 posts here suggested manual shutdown. Tried shutdown. Opened to same screen. Then shutdown 2x. 3rd try got stuck circling. Finally a blue screen showed with message that computer will “restart itself” - now back to same Reconstructing Cache Metadata! Cannot shutdown manually now!!November 2022. [Asus Zenbook 2020 purchase]

  2. Reconstructing Cache Metadata

after an update to my iTunes and installation of iCloud, I was instructed to restart my computer. I did so using the "restart" button in windows 10. Nothing happened, except the appearance of a grey screen with a blinking cursor.

I turned off the power and turned it back on. When I did so, I got the message that "The operating system did not shutdown cleanly. Reconstructing Cache Metadata. Please do not interrupt this process." and a list of various things that presumably are
involved in doing so. (not sure what they are).

It has been a week. It is still "reconstructing Cache Metadata" or something. What is going on? How long is this supposed to take? When do I give up and try something else?

  3. Operating System Did Not Shut Down Cleanly - Reconstructing Cache Metadata

I have a PC that is displaying "The Operating System Did Not Shut Down Cleanly - Reconstructing Cache Metadata" upon initial startup. Recovery options have failed and automatic Repair does not work. When I try to boot into safe mode, the computer restarts
and then displays a screen that says "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we will restart for you." The stop code is CRITICAL PROCESS DIED.

I am able to bring up a command prompt but I am not sure how to proceed.

  4. Windows 11 update stopped. Reconstructing cache. Can’t force shut down.

"The operating system didn't shutdown cleanly. Reconstructing cache metadata"

I am running windows 11 on my Asus vivobook s15 laptop, it has been working fine until 3 days ago when I tried to open my pc it started to show "The operating system didn't shutdown cleanly. Reconstructing cache metadata" and sticks on that screen without doing anything.

I have tried force shutting it down 3 times to enter safe mode but didn't work.

I have tried to enter in to advanced recovery options by clicking f9 but it says please wait and after a while it restarts and goes back to the first error message.

I have tried to boot it from USB drive using windows 11 iso file but it shows the windows logo at restart and do nothing for a while and returns back to the first error message after a restart.

What am I missing? Or what am I doing wrong?

I appreciate any help I would get
