Windows 10: Windows 11 update turns on Bitlocker, but doesn't save key to MS account.

I am running Windows 11 on an Alienware laptop and have never installed or used Bitlocker. It has recently in the last 12 hrs automatically updated it did an update then re-started and now wants my Bitlocker key inserted before it will boot up. It has never done this before and was specifically set up not to run Bitlocker. I have gone to my MS account to look for where it should be auto saved but it is not there. There are few if any options I can see other complete rebuild of an unbacked up drive, losing all files. How can MS update this sort of thing when it is not requested, wanted or e

I had to reinstall windows 11, do I need to delete the old BitLocker recovery key and save a new BitLocker recovery key for the new install?

At first, turn off Bitlocker encryption and then reinstall Windows 11, then log in to your Microsoft account, delete the old Bitlocker key saved in the MS account, then enable Bitlocker encryption and save the Bitlocker key.

 

Bitlocker Key not updating in Windows Account

I have a weird problem.

I encrypted my C: drive using bitlocker. I saved my bitlocker recovery key to a USB drive and printed it out. What is weird is when I look at my Microsoft Devices in my on-line Microsoft account I don't see my current bitlocker key displayed. What is displayed are three old keys from computers I no longer use. Thinking it might be a update glitch, in the bitlocker app I saved my bitlocker key to Azure (one of the options hoping it would replicate to my MS Account, I don't have the option of updating my Window's Account, the other options are to save a file with my bitlocker key and save key to another, non-encrypted drive). Saving my key Azure had no effect. My Microsoft account is a Personal, non-Office 365 or work account. My Window's login account is not local, it is an on-line account which is the Windows default. My Account type is Standard, Administrator, again the Windows default.

This problem is not critical but I would like my on-line account updated with my current bitlocker recovery key. Any suggestions? BTW, I de-crypted and re-encrypted my boot drive and my Microsoft account does not show my current encryption key.

 

BitLocker Save to USB Flash missing?

I followed the step by step guide on what Brink wrote up below.

However, when turning ON BitLocker to encrypt the OS drive only, and ask me to where to save the recovery key, I get only the Save to File and not the Save to USB Flash. Has MS taken out the Save to USB selection since WIn 10 version 1511?

I followed all the steps and left BitLocker to its default setting (except for encryption method).

I was able to save the recovery key to a file which was my USB flash drive.
