    Hi all, I've just encountered an issue with W11 upgrade on an OS that is installed and boots from a VHDX disk. NOT VM! it is booting OS on a physical system that is fully supported and I have upgraded the W10 on the same machine in dual boot where the OS was installed on a physical disk without any issues.The health check passes ok as shown on the image below:But, the installation stops after few minutes stating that virtual drive installation is not supported.I didn't try the clean installation into aa VHDX, but I did find the articles confirming that this actually works when you do the clean

    Native booting vhdx file not working

    Testing in a virtual machine will not work unless the vhdx has boot files.

    All you need to do to native boot vhdx file is

    1. Boot to Windows.

    2. Attach vhdx file from disk management.

    3. Note the drive letter of windows in attached vhd.

    4. Type following

    bcdboot #:\windows

    where # is drive letter from step 3.

    DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .

    Windows 10 VHD Native Boot Installation--Officially Supported?

    Is booting Windows 10 from a vhd (or vhdx) file officially supported by Microsoft? I know there were lots of articles about running the Windows 10 technical preview by using Boot From VHD, but I have been unable to find a listing of Windows 10 features
    that shows that it officially supports this feature. It is well-known that a vhd-booted Windows 8.1 installation cannot be upgraded directly to Windows 10 (as was also true when upgrading from 8 to 8.1). Does anybody know the "status" of VHD Native Boot
    going forward?
