  1. Windows 11 - USB drives recognised on / off with INF file fix.

Hi all,Like so many people, I have problems with my Windows 11 PC recognising my USB sticks. I tried all the usual stuff with power settings and drivers etc.I found a fix via guy on Youtube:I go to C: Windows / INF / wpdmtWhen I find the INF file called wpdmt, I right click it and chose install. Once done, I reboot the PC - and then my USB sticks are immediately recognised and work normally. Amazing.But..... it only works for one time. If I remove the USB stick, or put the PC on / off and come back later, the problem of non-recognition is back I confirmed that repeating the fix works aga

    :)

    oem157.inf oem158.inf blocking Windows 11 upgrade

Repeated attempts to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 have been "hard" blocked by XPS and PDF drivers oem157.inf and oem158.inf. This exact scenario has been reported/documented before with early upgrades to Windows 10. The documented solution steps from this historical issue have not been successful in resolving my current Windows 11 upgrade failures.

XPS and PDF features have been disabled. Every primary and secondary reference linked to oem157 and oem158 has been removed from the registry and the oem157 and oem158 files removed from the Windows/INF folder, yet the Windows 11 upgrade continues to fail with 0xC0900209 error which is caused by oem157.inf and oem158.inf. DISM and SFC have been used to no benefit in this issue.

Would the existence of the prnms001 and prnms009 folders/files in the Windows/System32/DriverStore/FileRepository folder cause the Windows 11 upgrade to be blocked by oem157 and oem158? Are there other items that need to be "cleaned" of the XPS and PDF driver references to allow Windows 11 upgrade to be successful?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

P.S. XPS and PDF printer devices have all been deleted.

    USB Flash Drive Not Recognised

To find what Navy suggest:: Open a CMD window as administrator and type: diskpart list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the USB drive number) select disk n (replace n by the USB drive number obtained with list disk) list part (is there more than one partition?) select part 1 detail part (is it ntfs or Fat32?) exit

  4. Windows 11 - USB drives recognised on / off with INF file fix.

Windows 10 does not recognise external usb dvd drive. NEW METHOD REQUIRED fornfix

So, after a recent update, my father-in-laws laptop has stopped recognising his external dvd drive. It shows up in device drivers as an initio device, and in portable drives, it's listed as e:\ but it doesn't show up as a drive in file manager windows.

This happened previously, and I used a fix listed here

    Link to old fix

    METHOD 5 and METHOD 6

My problem is, that now he has updated windows to most recent version, this fix no longer seems to work, and if you notice at the bottom of the support methods provides, it specifically states that these methods should NOT BE NECESSARY in the latest updates.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I originally listed the steps detailed in old fix, but formatting disappeared and it became a wall of text, so just provided link and methods used. Please read original methods to see steps I have already taken.
