Windows 10: Windows 11 Video Thumbnails come up green

I just upgraded to Windows 11 and it seems now I have this issue, it's strange because it only comes up in one folder, on both mp4 and MOV files. Files with the same extensions on other folders do not have this issue. I tried going back to Windows 10 but this issue came up again, as if it's now tied to the files in this folder. I have moved the folder, renamed the folder, checked the driver for errors it's a brand now m2 drive but nothing seems to work. And yes, I also cleared cache files.

System file corruption is one of the possible reasons why thumbnail preview has recently disappeared. To better assist you, please answer the following:

• For clarification, are referring to video preview thumbnails when using File Explorer?
  
• We would like to verify if you are referring to the Fall Creators Update. To see your
  Windows build and version, please follow the steps in this
  article.
  

In the meantime, we suggest creating a Test User Profile. This is to see if the same issue occurs on a different user profile.

To create a Test User Profile, follow these steps:

• On Search, type Settings then hit the
  Enter key.
• On Settings window, select Accounts.
• Select Family & other people.
  
• Select Add someone else to this PC.
• Name the User Profile as TEST.
• Assign a password for TEST user, then select Next.
• Sign in TEST user.

We'll be waiting on the results.

 

Downloaded pictures have green thumbnails

Yea.. see if you can somehow disable whichever browser you may think could be doing this and see what happens.

But I did just come up with one "hopeful" suggestion. Remember the link I posted before?

I would try to private message: roxieno
Because you see he possibly found what was causing this, and maybe by some rare coincidence it could be some app you're not thinking of at the moment and just so could happen to be the same app that's doing this?

Post #6 over at that thread from the guy states:
"Then I found out that another app is generating my thumbnails for pictures that's why they're green. Just had that disabled and everything's fine now!"

I would message him, cross my fingers and hope that he would get an email notification that he has a new message in his TenForums inbox.

Good luck if you decide on doing that.

But let's hope it's just that browser that was doing it, and you got it resolved.

Folder previews are coming soon to Windows 11 general release.

For the media icons, have you tried resetting the thumbnail cache? I believe the Video previews show for me but I'll cross-check.
