Windows 10: Windows 11 wallpaper changes on 2nd monitor every time computer restarts

This was also happening while I still had windows 10. I will go in and set two different wallpapers for my dual monitors one is portrait so I have a landscape wallpaper and a portrait wallpaper. I have the picture mode selected in personalization. Yet every time I turn my PC back on the portrait monitor has reset to the same wallpaper as the landscape one. Please help.

Windows 11 2nd monitor reverts to landscape on restart

I tried all that.

The first time restarting after the change was made, the 2nd monitor came up in portrait mode as before, but I expected that. I figured that maybe I needed to actually change the 2nd monitor's orientation with fast startup disabled. So I did that and restarted a second time.

The second time it restarted, the 2nd monitor actually came up in portrait mode! At first, anyway. Then, within a a second or two, while the machine was still coming up after rebooting, I watched in disbelief as the 2nd monitor switched itself from portrait to to landscape mode!

So, I changed the orientation back to portrait mode again and restarted a third time.

This time, the monitor came up in landscape mode same as the first time.

Then it occurred to me that maybe I had to do an actual shutdown (not restart). But when I tried that, I got the same result.

So, no. This suggestion didn't work. I think I'll reenable fast startup for the time being and await your next idea.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to restart the computer and check if you are able to successfully change the lock screen wallpaper.

  From Desktop, right click and select
  Personalize.
  
• 
  In Personalization window, click on
  Lock Screen in the left pane.
  
• 
  And choose wallpaper you would like to apply for the lock screen by choosing the browse option.

  Close the Personalization window.

Can't set different wallpaper on a dual monitor setup.

Okay I had the same problem so can you report the bug for me since my PC doesn't let me but basically with windows 11 you can change the wallpaper for each desktop but for some reason you can't change the the monitor wallpaper unless you get rid of all the desktops then you have the option to change per monitor.

Steps to fix

1. Windows button + TAB
   
2. get rid of all the desktops at the bottom of the screen but 1
   
3. go to your background setting, right click on a picture and wala it now says monitor instead of Desktop
   

Please report it for me and replay to me if it works.
