Windows 10: Windows 11 Wifi Issue: Connected to Internet but Windows Settings shows Offline

The issue that I am facing is that my computer does not recognize that I am connected, via wifi, to the internet, even though I am. I can download every website that I go to although some websites are problematic once I start to do things within them - Autozone.com for example won't let me filter products by vehicle type. I am unable to do any software updates, because Windows does not recognize that my laptop is actually connected to the internet.This problem has been ongoing for a couple of weeks now and I have tried many different things to resolve the issue.   I was not able to work on this issue yesterday ( busy for a 90 year old). This evening I was able to take the steps that were suggested in your email.
  
  When I use “Device Manager” I click “ Network Adapters” I see “ Wifi” but not Eternet in this list. On the “Settings” I click “Wifi” which shows the “On' button.
  

I click” Show available networks”. I wanted to capture the page that is shown, but it will not show. The top line is Network ( connected) but course I have the Ethernet cable connected. Also showing Is Five “ Broadband connections” At the bottom is
“ Network and Internet settings” I hope for your continued help.

If your wireless router has a built in firewall maybe it's somehow set to block the ports that Windows updates use?

I'd also suggest if it works with it being directly connected then you could try resetting your router to see if this fixes the issue.

Windows 7 virtual wifi authentication mode

Hello.

Just a quick question to whoever is using windows 7 virtual wifi capability - when you type in "netsh wlan show hostednetwork", cmd window displays a list of settings for your hosted virtual wifi.

I was wondering, is there a way to change authentication method from WPA2-Personal to simple WEP ?
