Windows 10: Windows 11 WiFi shows no networks found

I cannot reliably connect to any Wifi networks. When I look at the Wifi networks available, none appear. I have gone through numerous attempts to get the networks to show, without success. All other wifi devices can find the network and are working properly Amazon Echo, iPhone, iPads, other computers. 1 Internet, Network, and WiFi troubleshooters did not find problem except to say no wifi networks available duh2 Made sure Wifi is on and showing it is on another duh3 Made sure Airplane mode was not on a third duh4 Uninstalled and reinstalled network ada

Wifi Networks not showing

On my Laptop if I wanted to change the wifi connection I would always see a list of the available networks when I selected the Wifi icon on the task bar.
Since the last major update to Windows 10 I find that when I select the wifi icon I only see the current connection





To see other networks within range I have to open the 'Network settings' and choose 'Show available networks' - then they show up.





Does anyone have any explanation for this - or possibly a 'fix' to show them all from the taskbar again.

 

Windows won't forget WiFi network

I have 3 old Wifi networks that I want to get rid of in the list of networks. All devices show them in the WiFi list and when i click Forget, they come right back. When I go to Manage networks in Settings, they're not there, but still show in the list on every device. How can I get rid of them?

WiFi appears in Manage Known Networks, not in Show Available Networks

The list of WiFi connections shown when you click the WiFi icon in the taskbar is a list of all the signals that can currently be seen by the WiFi adapter. The list in Manage Known Networks is a list of all those you have previously successfully connected to, whether or not they are currently available.

The only plausible explanation is that for a while that WiFi signal had been turned off.
