Windows 10: Windows 11 will not finish booting. Want to save data....

I have a Dell 8960 tower that I purchased new about 2 months ago, wunning Windows 11 Pro. The machine has Intel Core i7-13700, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 2TB PCIe M.2 SSD. I recently ran into a problem where the machine will not complete boot up. I called Dell support and their very limited help was to try using a default bios, which didn't work. They recommend a full reinstall and I'll lose my personal data. I'm not ready to concede defeat. It seemed as though creating a bootable USB with Rufus might help and I was able to download a Win 11 inage from MS, and successfully create a Rufus boo

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

Restart to finish updating Windows 11 never completes with external booting Windows

Hello,

I have a Dell laptop, with an original Windows 11 Pro. I'm dual booting using an external USB SSD drive also with Windows 11, but Home Edition, using the DELL boot menu. I have these two separate OSs as they serve to different purposes, the internal is for work, and the external is for personal stuff.

My problem started with the KB5016691 update needing to restart Windows to finish its installation. When I restart Windows, I immediately enter to the Dell boot manager and choose the external drive so it can finish the update, but this update last step never happens. The external Windows boots normally and the update never finishes and keeps showing "you need to restart to finish the update". This same KB was updated on the "internal" Windows without any issue.

Any help is welcome.

Computer Won't Reboot - AMD Data Change...Updata New Data to DMI

If he is getting stuck at verifying DMI pool data, that means his BIOS isn't finishing the POST process before it's hanging up. Although I'm confused now because he said he tried re-installing windows which would indicate that the machine is getting through the entire POST process.

I'm confused now. I think we need a better, more descriptive version of what exactly is happening.

Maybe a full step by step process of what is happening?
