Windows 10: Windows 11 Windows Hello not detecting fingerprint scanner on my HP Envy 14

I have encountered a problem whereby Windows 11 Windows Hello is not detecting the fingerprint scanner on my HP Envy 14 though it was working fine before. I have tried searching online for a solution but none seems to be working.In particular, I was looking at my Device Manager app and found that one of the I2C-HID is showing that there is a problem as shown below in the screenshot with the yellow triangle with a !. I clicked on Properties for that item and it is showing that the request for HID Descriptor failed. Could my fingerprint scanner be linked to this issue? I have looked through al

We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner/camera Windows Hello

Hello, I'm experiencing some issues while trying to enable the Windows Hello login via camera and fingerprint. Basically I have this Windows 10 21H2 joined to a domain, and using administrative creds I've enabled the registry keys to enable Windows Hello and PIN login.

Unfortunately I'm not able to use the Hello camera or fingerprint despite the device is Windows Hello compatible (HP Elitebook G8). I've tried all the suggestion reported on the tutorials but still no luck, I have the error: We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with windows hello fingerprint On both camera and fingerprint. Both devices are recognized properly via devmgmt. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you!

 

Couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint

Hi there

My fingerprint scanner on my HP Envy stopped working a few days ago. I receive an error message when viewing the sign in options "Couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint".

I've checked Device Manager to ensure that it is set to Automatic and running.

I have an HP Envy laptop with a fingerprint scanner. When first purchased I was able to sign in using a fingerprint scanner. It seems somewhere after some Windows Updates, this feature is no compatible with Windows Hello. I have searched and searched to
find out how to fix this and recommendations have failed. I was hopeful that I might get some help from this community on how to fix this or is not fixable? Thank you for feedback/suggestions.
