Windows 10: Windows 11 won't allow to set or use default apps

Trying to play a dvd with a dvd player laptop doesn't have a dvd port. My computer has a media player capable of playing dvds or so it claims, but windows won't allow me to use it. Everytime i turn the device on windows only gives the options of searching microsoft store for app, open files for browsing or do nothing. I can't choose the media player app from settings either, i can't set it as default. Default options are the same, microsoft store, do nothing or browse. I can't set any default apps for dvds or cds. When I open the media player itself it can't find the dvd or the machine, it

• In the right pane, click on Choose default apps by file type.

Cannot set "Calendar" as default app

I would suggest you to try the below steps and check whether you are able to make the Calendar as default.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on System.
• Select Default apps from the left pane.
• Click on Choose default app by protocol at the bottom.
• Select the Calendar and choose an app.

Step 1: Run Windows app troubleshooter.

Step 2: Run shell commands for Windows store and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin) to open elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  Type the following commands.
  
  
  
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  
• 
  Hit enter, the blackscreen will appear still for a couple of seconds. After a couple of second a new line saying C:\.... will appear.
  
• 
  Close Command Prompt.
  
• 
  Try to start the Windows Store again.
