Windows 10: Windows 11 won't resume after screen timeout due to inactivity

The problem: If I leave my laptop idle and the computer goes to sleep/turns off the hard-drive, the screen remains black when I try to resume activity and I have to ultimately do a hard-reset by holding the power button for 5 seconds. It doesn't matter if I use the built-in keyboard or external mouse/keyboard. It's been happening on-and-off for about 4 months, but now it's getting worse and is happening any time the computer goes idle.Device specifications:Asus Q505UA, Windows 11 HomeIntelR CoreTM i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz, 1.80 GHzIntel UHD Graphics 620External Monitor Asus VE228 - 21.5"

How to extend or eliminate the timeout at sign in on an Acer Windows

To address your concern, we suggest that you adjust your screen timeout setting. It helps you set the time on how long before the screen will be locked due to inactivity.

You can follow the steps below on how to set your screen timeout:

1. Right-click on the Desktop, then choose Personalize.

2. Click Lock screen found on the left pane.

3. Click Screen timeout settings at the bottom part of the page.

4. Choose your preferred screen timeout on the drop down list under Screen.

Screen timeout not working in Windows 10

Acer, Swift 3. Windows 10 Home edition. Version 1809. Build 17763.379. installed 1/16/2019. I followed your directions, to the letter. Troubleshooting "fixed" the extended screen timeout settings I had established met my needs, 20 minutes on battery,
30 minutes on line power. Then I established a new, custom power plan with these screen timeout settings, made this my power plan, and rebooted. Then waited. Sure enough, ample time without the annoying screen timeout of approximately two minutes of inactivity.
So I put the laptop in sleep mode, awoke it, and waited. Two minutes later, the screen timed out. So, no, the remedies suggested have not resolved the two minute inactivity screen timeout. It's apparent that when I use sleep mode to suspend activity,
something in the operating system reverts to the extremely short, two minute inactivity screen timeout , essentially putting the computer back into sleep mode.
