Windows 10: Windows 11 WSUS: Win 11 Updates detected as not needed by Win 11 client in WSUS

I am testing to update Windows 11 from WSUS server. Currently we have 3 units of test client, however, there is 2 issues related to the testing.Windows 11 detected as Win 10 in WSUS.Windows 11 updates detected as not needed/not applicable by the clients.I already ticked all the Windows 11 updates options but still the issues still persist. All of the test PC was freshly installed with Win 11 and haven't updated yet. Appreciate the helps from the community. Thank you.

WSUS and Windows 11

We want to test Windows 11 in our environment.

Therefore we have added the 'Windows 11' product to our WSUS.

Now we have a few workstations that on first sight are compatible with Windows 11 (memory, diskspace, TPM2.0, ...) but they are listed in WSUS as 'not applicable' for the Windows 11 upgrade.

How can we find out what is preventing this upgrade?

The PC Health Check-app doesn't work on domain clients.

 

WSUS clients are not able to get an updates. WSUS is reporting different version of client.

Any clients that have quit reporting and failed to play nice with WSUS have both of these security rollups:

KB4093118

The clients that work fine do not have the above patches installed. It is the same regardless if they are Win-7, Win2008 server, or Win-10.

My WSUS server only serves up about 69 clients and 23 of them started experiencing the issue around the same time that the above patches were installed. Being that they are roll-ups, they can't be uninstalled.

Not a happy camper with MS and WSUS right now.

 

Windows Updates WSUS "Upgrades" like Windows 11, Veriosn 22h2 x64 2023-07B

I can't find any indication on any of the WSUS documentation that cover "Upgrades" classification

that page has a show 10 more but doesn't have "Upgrades"

So the question is, when I read the relevant KB article it says the KB is an "Update" for example the one in my subject line is Windows 11, version 22h2 x64 2023-07B and that is KB number 5028185.

In the WSUS mmc it is under Classification as "Upgrades", but I can't find any documentation that defines what the behaviour is for Upgrades.

So the challenge I am facing is that WSUS firstly can't tell the difference between Windows 10 Operating systems and Windows 11 Operating systems.
All our computers show display in WSUS as Windows 10 Enterprise

So if I were to release this "Upgrade", in the hopes it will install only on the Windows 11 computers, is it going to try Upgrade the Windows 10 computers to Windows 11?
