Windows 10: Windows 1803 update slows down PC so it can't be used.

My client has a PC that is used for taking x-rays at a Doctors Office. For several weeks now we have been dealing with the Windows 1803 update. The update keeps trying to install during the work day while users are logged in. The install slows the PC down so every mouse action takes 30 to 60 seconds to complete. This is preventing the PC from being used and is negatively affecting Dr. appointments. We have tried leaving the install alone while it's installing, but it takes several hours with very little progress. We have to keep force stopping Windows Updates to regain the PC resources and continue with scheduled appointments. If we reboot after that, it will take 2 or 3 hours before we can get back to a login screen. We have tried leaving the machine on over the weekend, disabled sleep, and left connected to the Internet, but the 1803 install still seems to wait until the work week to try the install again.


We need to set updates so they only happen after-hours no matter what. We have set the work hours to 6am to 8pm, but Windows updates does not seem to care. I need answer to the following questions:


1. Can updates be set to only download and installed after-hours no matter how out-of-date the PC is?

2. Can I manually install the 1803 update without losing installed applications or data?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Any Office365 users here? Does Outlook (or any Office app for that matter) request activation after each system restart post this Windows 1803 update?
