    Windows 1903 (18362.86) Add/Remove Apps settings crashes


    Hi, I just upgraded to Windows 1903 (18362.86) by switching my local admin account to an online account and joining the Windows Insiders program. After successfully updating, I un-enrolled from Windows Insiders and reverted to a local account. Now, the Add/Remove Apps module in the Settings crashes every time I try to use it.


    I tried the tips here:

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/clicking-on-apps-and-features-crashes-settings/0293611f-a612-4c56-b9ee-f0c3ce954506

    I can temporarily fix it by running:

    sfc /scannow

    ...but after rebooting the bug reappears.


    I also tried:

    •Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
    •Ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak

    ...but this did not help. (The catroot2 folder can't even be renamed, as it is in use by something.)


    Any other suggestions?

    @enigma101, as I said earlier, as a non-insider I'm not even in any sort of 'ring', but I still got it successfully.

    As noted by @Phone Man, Service Stack updates are not listed in Update History, only in 'uninstall updates'. But I got KB4498524 through windows update at the same time.

    Apparently KB4498524 is a prerequisite for installing KB4497093.

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
    Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
    If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

    P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
    Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
    What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
