Windows 2008R2 Server Does Not Show Up as a Network Object

Using a Windows 10 Pro workstation at the latest build, I am not able to see a Windows 2008R2 server as a network object.

When I click the yellow folder icon on the task bar to view my folders, and then I click to expand the "Network" section on the left sidebar, I never see the Windows 2008R2 server as one of the objects in my network.

How can I get the Windows 2008R2 server to show up here as an object?

  2. Domain joined 2008r2 sp1 server is not visible in File Explorer when browsing the network

We are running a backup program on a 2008r2 sp1 server that is joined to a domain. The backup program does not allow you to use UNC to set the backup path; you must use the GUI to browse to the server which I cannot do because it does not show up in file
explorer. This server also does not show up in Net View while all the others do. Network Discovery is turned on for this server as well as browsing devices.

  3. NAS Drives crash Windows 10 after running hardware troubleshooter

The NAS shows up as a media device and as a computer on the network when I open file explorer on the server (2008R2). On the workstations with Windows 10 it shows up as a media device and nothing more. It is just out on the network as a backup drive for
the company files (in another building). No one accesses it for anything, just the server backups. There are no firmware updates from WD, it is current.

Windows 2008R2 Server Does Not Show Up as a Network Object

I got the server to show up as a network object on the Windows 10 Pro workstation.

On the server, I unchecked the LMHOSTS lookup within the IP v4 properties, and I also made sure the WINS server and DNS was correctly addressed, and I enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

On the workstation, I made sure the WINS and DNS were correctly addressed.
