Window'w 20H2 doing strange things to my windows hello fingerprint login.


When I leave the computer and it goes to sleep I cannot login using the Fingerprint

Reader. It forces me to use the pin. Once logged in with the Pin the Fingerprint Reader

again functions as Long as I don't leave the Computer unused for to long.

Tried the usual stuff check for driver updates run troubleshooting procedure.

Redid Fingerprints. Though they are working for everything else.


Rolled back to last version of Windows an it works there.

One year old Lenovo 940 15 loaded with I7 and 1tb SSD.

I also noticed online there has been a lot of Windows Hello problems

in the last 6 months with this upgrade.


I used the new version a couple of days and it maybe seems a little snappier

but this login is and intolerable problem.

Windows Hello Fingerprint issue

We understand that you are unable to use Windows Hello Fingerprint to sign in to Windows. It would be great if you can reply with the details requested below:

• When you say, “I am not getting the option to log-in into windows using fingerprint.” What login options do you see on the login screen?
  
• What happens when you try to use the Windows Hello Fingerprint scanner to login to Windows?
  
• Were you able to use the Windows Hello Fingerprint to login to Windows earlier?
  

Ideally, on the login screen, you will see Sign-in options that allows you to use different sign-in methods to login to Windows.



As you have mentioned that you are able to use the Fingerprint scanner on websites, I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

1. On the login screen, click on Sign-in options.
   
2. Click on the Fingerprint icon, scan the Fingerprint, and see if you are able to sign in.

If the issue persists, try removing the Fingerprint and add it again. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + I, to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Accounts and click on
   Sign-in options on the left pane.
   
3. Now, click on Windows Hello Fingerprint and click on
   Remove.
   
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the Fingerprint.
   
5. Once done, click on Set up and follow the on-screen instructions to add the Fingerprint.

Windows Hello Fingerprint issue

Thanks for the reply.

Yesterday I had a chat discussion with one of the Microsoft tech agents. After much troubleshooting and hit and try, some issues got fixed.

I use HP Client Security for fingerprint login. There I also created 'spare key' which was preventing Windows to show fingerprint login option. When I removed spare key option, I got back the fingerprint login option for me.

Leaked Windows 8.1 Build Reveals Fingerprint Login – Screenshot



Word is that Microsoft will introduce fingerprint support in Windows 8.1, but the company has remained completely tight-lipped on the feature lineup of its next OS.

A new screenshot that reached the web a few hours ago reveals that Microsoft is indeed working on fingerprint authentication for Windows 8.1, even though it’s not yet clear if such an option would also be available in the stable build of the OS or not.

According to WinBeta.org, fingerprint support has been spotted in a recently-leaked development build of Windows 8.1, so chances are that it’s actually the preview version to be released in June.

As you most likely heard, Microsoft would unveil the first public beta of the Windows 8 update next month at the BUILD developer conference, while the stable release is expected later this year.
