Windows 10: Windows 7/8/10 Dot Net Windows Service rollback after install success while files are...

Many of our customers those are using licensed Windows operating system 7/8/10 having issue with our application as below.


[Problem Description]

We have built one windows service in dot net 3.5 framework using licensed Visual Studio 2013 Professional.

We have dual signed sha1 and sha256 all ".exe" and dependent ".dll" withDigiCert EV Code signing certificate.

When we are trying to install this service in Windows operating system 7/8/10 via InstallUtil.exe, it is getting installed successfully, but after it, it isgetting rollback and so installation is getting failed.

Rolling back assembly 'C:\Program Files\TestService\MyServiceApp.exe'.
Affected parameters are:

logfile = C:\Program Files\TestService\MyServiceApp.InstallLog
Restoring event log to previous state for source MyService.
Service MyService is being removed from the system...
Service MyService was successfully removed from the system.


[Solutions we have tried]

We have increased value of "ServicesPipeTimeout" upto "8540000" under registry ""HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control"but did not worked.


We have tried single signed either sha1 or sha256 at a time separately instead of dual signed sha1 and sha256 and try to installbut same problem.

We have tried to installed unsigned files and it got installed but we don't want to go with this solution.

In some system, we are disabling network and then trying to install signed files, it is getting install successfully but thispatch is working for only few system but not all.

We have updated windows system with latest KBs but same problem

Requesting you all experts for your opinions/suggestions/solutions on this.

Windows 8 rollback to 7 or XP

I've stepped back to 7 from 8 there are more and better drivers for 7 .and its close enough to 7 in use she'd like it

Damn, beat me to it, lol.

I was gonna suggest Stardock's Start8 for $5, but it's the same idea.

If not, then install Windows 7. XP is great, but obsolete, will likely not have working drivers for that hardware and support is drying up day by day.

From a quick glance at the parts, I'd say you have a decent chance of running Windows XP - that is, if you really want to. All the Windows 7 and "fixed" Windows 8 suggestions are better course to pursue.
