Windows 10: Windows 7 and Minecraft will it work?

Hello.I own windows 7 and I will not give it up. I want buy official minecraft either from the microsoft store or another store then via redeem code. WILL IT WORK?Or is it necessary to own win 10 or 11 to play minecraft? if so I take it that gates does not want my money.
