Windows 10: Windows 7 fails to update to Windows 10

Wait so what do I have to to do again?

 

I would like to share my experience on installing windows 10 on my 2 Desktops (both are DIY units). One PC has 4 DRAM modules originally and I have to remove two of them and the other I can keep the 4 DRAM modules. I have to increase the DRAM timings by one (i.e. from 4-4-4 to 5-5-5 and etc). I also have to use a high DRAM voltage such as 2.1V. After all these changes, I can successfully upgrade both PCs to Windows 10. Both PCs are a few years old and I believe the Motherboards are not that stable especially during hot summer. I use Windows 10 ISO on a DVD to upgrade my PCs and notebooks. I also did a system image backup of the old Windows on USB drives before I did the Windows 10 upgrade.

 

Have you loaded 10 yet or not if you have not just plug in your usb & follow prompts it will take three hours, let me know how you go.

 

It didnt work, it said failed during the second boot, migrate data

 

What percentage did it get 32% or higher try doing it from the Microsoft app on right hand side of taskbar as you may of done your usb before Microsoft did what ever they did, one of my disks that I burned does not work.

 

My Win 7 upgrade to Win 10 failed twice. The third time I unplugged a USB external fan, a HDMI cable from my video card to a video adapter that converts the HDMI to audio and component that is connected to my TV (Has no HDMI inputs), and instead of the DVD I created from the ISO file, I used a USB drive. Third try worked. I suspect that the video converter was the culprit. There is a post somewhere on this forum that addresses that issue. The post I read also stated that you could log on blindly by hitting the space bar and typing in your password to get by that hang up. I had a black screen and the cursor that I was able to move.

 

great to hear you have it running hope Dannc gets his going as well there are a few bugs in it so you will have to sort a few things out it will have taken your virus software out but it put windows defender in for you it works quite well & there are some good reports on the web I am using it now, the mail you will find off-putting I think Microsoft have a bit of work in front of them a restart of computer seems to fix some of the bugs such as apps only staying open for two seconds you will waste a few hours setting it up to work the way you want.

 

I finally got windows 10. I had to back up everything. Reinstall Windows 7 and let it upgrade to all the recent stuff. Than I went to the microsoft media creation tool and downloaded windows 10 like i did before so many times. And it finally upgraded to windows 10. I think the only reason it wasnt upgrading to windows 10 and kept failing because, windows 7 was corrupted, so i had to make a clean boot of windows 7 to upgrade to windows 10. I hope this helps anybody that had that the trouble that I had.
