Windows 10: Windows 7 - Freeing up space on C drive: Can I move Winsxs, System32, Assembly, Installer...

I've done the obvious:Moved as many programs from C to D as possible Almost everything actually. I use C Cleaner to clear caches of browsers. Not sure if I can have the caches on D drive as well as the rest of the program. I've always hated the way Microsoft spews files all over the place instead of keeping everything to do with a program in one place. Right now Windows 7 64bit takes up about 25 gb according to Treesize and when I use DIR in CMD it says about 21 gb. Not sure if either is very accurate. I've heard Windows itself doesn't measure things well and it says I'm using 21 gb if I

• I suspect the windows 10 need this much space and it is some kind of glitch,
• Please suggest a way to free up some space as I don't prefer to format partition C:

 

C Drive losing free space

Hello,

I have a new laptop. On 17/08/19, C:\ had 85GB free space out of 117 GB total. Every week, it is losing about 5GB free space, and currently stands at 66.7 GB. I do not understand why free space should be lost. Can someone please help?

Here are salient items of information:

1. 128 GB SSD drive + 1 TB mechanical drive
2. Only 1 active windows user
3. No system restore points, checked as per suggestions available on www.
4. "Downloads" folder configured on D drive
5. "Documents" folder configured on D drive
6. New programs installed on D drive
7. Anti virus scan run - no infection found
8. Drive Statistics: 117 GB total, 66.7 GB free, 25.0 GB in 162,742 files / 35817 folders

At this rate, the drive will fill up in 3 months. *Shock
