  1. Windows 7 notebook PC can no longer see Windows 10 desktop PC through the network

Windows 10 Pro update; Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

I installed this Windows 10 update when it became available a couple of days ago and now have the following problems:

    1. While on my Windows 10 desktop PC I can see my Windows 7 notebook PC over the network, I cannot see my Windows 10 desktop PC from my Windows 7 notebook PC.
When I run Windows 7 Network Diagnostics & the Trouble Shooter, The HomeGroup screen appeared stating that it was detecting problems & that it was waiting for network diagnostics to complete. The screen never did complete - I left it running for a couple of hours!
Does anyone have a solution to this issue?
    2. While I used to be able to run 'SnagIt' before I installed this update, now, when I invoke SnagIt, Windows starts configuring SnagIt! A few seconds later, a combo box appears stating that it could not locate 'snagit.msi.' When I use the Windows Explorer search facility, it finds SnagIt.msi although the Explorer navigation pane does not show the folder in which snagit.msi is located!
Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

    RichJB

    :)

Windows 8 PC Has Six Variants

Poking around the registry of Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Windows8Beta discovered the operating system, at least the PC version, as having six variants. There are also mentions of ARM variants (for ARM tablets and notebooks), but let's look at the PC SKUs:
    • Windows 8 Starter Edition, for low-cost PCs, netbooks, nettops, etc., probably targeting emerging markets only
    • Windows 8 Home Basic, for value desktop PCs, netbooks, and notebooks
    • Windows 8 Home Premium, for mainstream desktops and notebooks
    • Windows 8 Professional, for home, office desktops and more functional notebooks
    • Windows 8 Professional Plus, for office desktops and notebooks in dense local networks, probably has extra management, data security features
    • Windows 8 Ultimate Edition, has the complete feature-set of the OS

Windows 7 & XP Networking Problem

I have two PCs in my room connected to a Linksys router, both had Windows 7 on them and had file sharing enabled through the Homegroup feature. Now I have XP on one PC, and still Windows 7 on the other. I setup the network on my XP PC and had the Windows 7 PC setup properly so that they could network together.

In 'My Network Places' I can see both PC's listed, I can double click the Windows 7 PC from my Windows XP PC and see the folders that I have set to share, but when I double click any of the folders I get an error message saying "\\PC-2\MP3 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied.

However, on my Windows 7 PC, I can go to network and browse all of the files I have set to share on the XP PC. So what do I need to do so that I can access the files on my Windows 7 PC on my Windows XP PC?
