Windows 10: windows 7 password lost

    windows 7 password lost


    I have my windows 7 laptop and I forgot the password and I tried to reboot in safe mode with command prompt and it boots up to the signon screen and ask for the password . I do not have the disk and I need some research data thats on this old laptop. I am unable to get to the command prompt to change the password . I know there is software I could buy and try it, but I am not comfortable loading on my current laptop on WINDOWS 11 and messing that up, trying to migrate to old lap top via usb or cd. Any suggestions ?

    Lost My Administrator Password

    To which "this" are you referring?
    - If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
    - If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.
