After 6 years use with MS happily updating it without any issues last weekend on just a casual reboot my PC suddenly reported that the Win7 Pro 64bit OS was not genuine. It is, it was installed from a genuine factory sealed copy with COA of course I'd bought around 2015 and it was installed without problems on a newly built PC in 2016.There are so many threads on this type of trouble dating back over a decade and I've tried many of the 'solutions' suggested without any joy. I gained temporary restoration by using the CMD Prompt "slmgr....." which allowed me use the Activate Windows Now again an

    Windows 7 not genuine problem

It seems like that's an OEM windows copy, it will do that the every time you reinstall the OS. If you have the key, next time you see the "not genuine windows copy" click it and choose to activate by phone, everything else is pretty straight forward as it explains step-by-step. If it doesn't work, then its highly likely that you got a Pirate copy.

ABOUT WINDOWS 7 PRODUCT KEY FAILURE (MGADiag report is included)

Your "not genuine" problem is caused by the corrupted files listed:

    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watadminsvc.exe[Hr = 0x80070003]

    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\npwatweb.dll[Hr = 0x80070003]

    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watux.exe[Hr = 0x80070003]

    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watweb.dll[Hr = 0x80070003]

Open an elevated Command Prompt (click Start, type Command Prompt, right-click on the link, and select "Run as administrator"; respond as needed to the UAC prompt)

Type the following in the black Command Prompt window and press Enter

    chkdsk /F

After the message about the drive being locked, type Y then press Enter, and then reboot the computer.

When the computer restarts, open an elevated Command Prompt, type the following in the Command Prompt window and press Enter

    sfc /scannow

Wait for the scan to finish, make a note of any error messages and then reboot.

This may or may not fix the problem. If it did NOT, run MGADiag again and go here:

    https://www.sysnative.com/forums/forums/windows-update.88/

Read the Posting Instructions, and then ask your question; don't forget to include the new MGADiag report.

Windows 7 Pro laptop showing as non-genuine.

Among other things, file corruption can cause a truly "genuine" system to be flagged as non-genuine. The cure is to fix the corruption rather than to attempt to re-activate by phone.

"Non-genuine" problems should be dealt with as follows:

To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop -

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
    )

    Once downloaded, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.

Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either right-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.

Because I'm not particularly expert in analyzing the output from the MGADiag tool, I suggest that you start a new thread here in Microsoft Community (indicating in the subject that you have run MGADiag) or start a new thread in the forum that's specifically
    for Windows 7 validation issues:
