Windows 10: Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10 Professional upgrade failing at 90% on every office pc

Hey guys,

I am pulling my hair out. We have 7 office pcs running Windows 7 Pro. I have attempted to upgrade 4 of them to Windows 10 Professional but it keeps failing @ 90% (Critical_Process_Died) and then reverting back to Windows 7. I receive the error "The installation failed in the Second_boot phase with an error during Migrate_data) 0xC1900101-0x4000d. I have removed drivers and set to standard (Sata controller and GPU). Removed AV. Set system to clean boot except for Microsoft services,etc.. I checked the log files and the minidump crash file in the rollback directory is pointing to Ntdll.dll. I was thinking of running an in-place upgrade for Windows 7 and then trying again (each time I do this it takes around an hr). Any ideas?!?

Upgrading to Windows 10 Professional using a windows 7 Professional Key

Hi,

Hoping someone can give me a proper and definitive answer on this as there are multiple conflicting answers.

1. Can you upgrade from windows 10 home to windows 10 Professional using a Windows 7 professional Key ?

2. Can you install windows 10 Pro and activate it using a windows 7 Pro Key ?

3. Can you upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10 Pro using a windows 8.1 professional key

4. Can you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Professional using a windows 7 Pro key

5. If you are able to upgrade will that key now register as a windows 10 pro key and not a windows 7 pro key any more ?

6. After upgrading will you still be able to roll back to previous OS ? (incase you need to format and reload or for whatever reason)

I have also found two articles (Listed Below) stating that it is possible but would rather get a proper answer from the OEM

Upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Professional by using Windows 7 Professional

Hi All,

I have bought a new notebook with Windows 10 Home, but I have Windows 7 Professional, as there is free upgrade of Windows 7 to Windows 10, can I use my Windows 7 Professional key to upgrade my new notebook to Windows 10 Professional, and how to do it. Thanks.

Windows XP professional

I am having problems with my PC. The system started rebooting while I was trying to login yesterday. Since then, the system boots up till the Windows XP logo is displayed and starts rebooting. When I tried to go to "Safe Mode" the process stops at "Partition c:\Windows\ststen32\Drivers\Mup.Sys" and starts rebooting. This loop goes on.

Can any one suggest how to repair/reinstall the XP professional edition.
