Windows 10: Windows 7 Professional -> Windows 10 Professional upgrade failing with 0xC1900101 - 0x4000D...

Hey all,


I have a handful of stubborn PCs refusing to upgrade as Windows 7's life slowly approaches its demise that are refusing to do in-place upgrades to 1909. I'm getting the 0xC1900101 - 0x4000D error after it BSOD's at 90% after second boot. The stop code is just CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED, then reverts back to Windows 7 x64.


I'm tearing my hair out here, as I feel like I've followed every option found on the Internet. For practical purposes, we can't do clean installs on these.


Here's what I've tried so far:

sfc/scannow

Bringing Windows fully up to date

Rebuilding software distribution folder

Bringing all drivers/BIOS up to date

Disabled drive that proved troublesome on other devices

Uninstalled same driver

Removed AV

Disk space is fine

Clean boot

System Update Readiness Tool

There are no external devices attached. Just AC power cable for the batteries.


Currently we are testing a solution that involved deleting all but one key from HKLM\software\microsoft\ole, but based on previous behaviors I'm not too hopeful.

I'm not the best at reading logs, so I was hoping to get some assistance on this.

Edit: If it helps, while it's still installing Windows 10 before the first reboot, it seems to hang at 31% for quite a while each time on every device.

Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10 Professional upgrade failing at 90% on every office pc

Hey guys,

I am pulling my hair out. We have 7 office pcs running Windows 7 Pro. I have attempted to upgrade 4 of them to Windows 10 Professional but it keeps failing @ 90% (Critical_Process_Died) and then reverting back to Windows 7. I receive the error "The installation
failed in the Second_boot phase with an error during Migrate_data) 0xC1900101-0x4000d. I have removed drivers and set to standard (Sata controller and GPU). Removed AV. Set system to clean boot except for Microsoft services,etc.. I checked the log files
and the minidump crash file in the rollback directory is pointing to Ntdll.dll. I was thinking of running an in-place upgrade for Windows 7 and then trying again (each time I do this it takes around an hr). Any ideas?!?

 

Problems with Windows 10 Upgrade - Error Code 0xC1900101-0x4000D

Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 and receiving Error Code 0xC1900101-0x4000D on two machines:

1) Dell 546 PC currently running Windows 8.1 - Failed in second boot phase with an error during migrate_data operation.

2) Lenovo X201 Laptop currently running Windows 7 - Page fault in non-paged area.

Any suggestions?

I failed to upgrade Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 Home with an error code 0xC1900101-0x4000D so I had to get back to the previous windows setting.
