Windows 7 Start vs. Windows 10 Start

I have recently "upgraded" to Windows 10, and I am floored that the revised Start Menu is cluttered and clunky by comparison. In Windows 7, I had the few programs I use regularly at the top of the Start Menu, but the biggest difference was that I had the Documents menu as a cascading menu. I could click on Documents, all my document folders would appear, I could slide over to the folders and their contents would appear, glide to the document I wanted to work on, click on that and the document would open in the appropriate program. If I wasn't sure which folder the document was in, I could easily glance through several folders just by moving the mouse, no clicks. Now if I click on Documents, it opens a Finder window. To open a folder, I have to move the mouse over to that window, choose a folder, click on that, look for the document, click on that. If I'm not sure what Folder a document is in, I have to go back to the previous Finder Window, go through the whole click sequence again, etc.

Somebody at Microsoft evidently thinks that Icons are clearer than labels, but they aren't, especially if you don't use something regularly hence the labels that show up if you hover over a mysterious icon. There's a opensource revision of the Start menu out there, but it doesn't cascade the Documents, only the Control Panel, and it has a few other disqualifying quirks for my use. Microsoft has the code for an excellent Start Menu. Please bring it back!

    :)
