  2. Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so i figured it out myself

    Found the logfile in "C:\Windows\Minidump".

You need the Windows Development Kit to open it and a bit of googling to understand it.

Found out that a Daemon driver caused an error. Removed Daemon but this didn't solve it. (ps: Daemon itself worked normally).

I let hibernate my computer again and found another error with sptd2.sys: SCSI Pass Through Direct layer

More google and ended up on the duplexsecure site. Downloaded the W10 version and voila: problem fixed.

For the Windows support team: It would be really helpfull if you could pass problems to a more skilled helpdesk who can do more than proposing the standard solutions in case those won't work.

    Cheers

  3. Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so I also found out that this occurs when sleepmode (for me after 3 hours) changes into hibernate mode.

Seems like the going into hibernate and/or starting up from HIbernate results in a shutdown. In safeboot it works perfectly.

Anyone any idea how I can figure out where it goes wrong. Is there a way to log this (I couldn't find it in bootlog)

    Windows 7 to windows 10

It worked fine on my Windows 7 desktop, but... My Windows 7 desktop computer was not a "well worn" computer, I had only (within 2 months) reinstalled 7 from scratch, so my upgrade went okay other than a small permissions hiccup on the user folders.

I'm more leery to try it on my laptop as it is one of these well worn computers where I think the last time that I reinstalled W7 on it was probably a good 2 1/2 years ago so it's fully cluttered with stuff and I've been reading too many horror stories about upgraded laptops losing access to their touchpads and wifi and Asus saying that they'll try to put out new drivers in the next several weeks.

So the upgrade for me on my desktop went fine overall from Windows 7 to 10. Was it worth it? I don't see why not. It's a relatively small learning curve to find where things now have to be accessed from and my computer still boots in about the same time and still is able to run the programs and games that I installed back in 7.
