Windows 10: Windows 7 update error code 8024200F

I am getting the error code 8024200F while installing security update for the windows. How to fix this error?

Windows 7 Update

I reinstalled Windows 7 a while ago.

1. After having trouble updating my Windows 7 (error code 8024200F), I downloaded and ran Windows Update Trouble shooter. The end result of this was three cases of «Problems with last updates – Solved», one case of «Service registration is missing or corrupt
   – Not solved» and one case of «Windows Update error 0x8024402C – Not solved».
2. I tried running Windows Update again with the same result, error 8024200F. Oddly enough in the start window it said «Last search for updates – Never» and Updates Installed – Never» while the log shows a large number of updates installed lately.
3. I then installed KB 3125574. Other updates recommended by ComputerWorld were already installed on my PC. KB 3020369 was not applicable I was told.

1. I again tried to let Windows Update search for updates, and am presented with the same «2018-09 accumulated monthly update 139,6 MB». It is still impossible to install it, error 8024200F.
   

What else can I do? I do want to keep Windows 7. It is not January 2020 yet.

 

Edge - does not update - error code 7: 0x80072EFD — system level

Yesterday and today I have been trying to update Edge. Both on VM and host, the 'Check for updates' runs for a while (checking) but ends with an error. " An error occurred while checking for updates: Unable to connect to the Internet. If you use a firewall, please allow list MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe. (error code 7: 0x80072EFD — system level). " Disabled Microsoft Defender firewall : makes no difference The MicrosoftEdgeSetup.exe can not connect with Internet, however, everything is in order.
