    I have a laptop that originally had a windows 8 home oem license that I upgraded to windows 8.1 pro long ago. I then did the in place update to windows 10 pro which went fine. Just recently I had to format my hard drive and now after installing windows it looks like it's reverted back to my laptops original windows 8 home license which has given me windows 10 home on my computer. I tried putting in my old windows 8.1 pro license to get windows 10 to upgrade itself but it says the license is invalid. Is there anything I can do about this?

    Microsoft Sells 40 Million Windows 8 Licenses

    you already have to have windows 8 to get windows 8 pro pack. Its some media center software that comes with that.
