  1. Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Upgrade

Now I have 4 laptops at home. Latest one came with windows10 preinstalled

Before that I purchased from a shop in Seattle an laptop with windows 10 (A returned piece hence I got a discount): Though the performance is not up to the mark, I am using it. From the BIOS data I see it is windows10 only and hope it is not a piece with earlier versions, upgraded by the first purchaser and returned by some means. Both computers are OK

The issue computer is coming now. I had a 8 updated to 8.1 automatically, BUT DURING THE AUTO UPGARDE OFFER TIME, TWICE IT UPGRADED UPTO 75%, BUT RETURNED BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE AFTER FAILURE. Shall describe it a few lines latter

For this write up I call the next one, as my first computer, with 7. Though I had some issues during upgrade to 10 I was able to get it and till date it is one of the best one I have.

In the order as they appear above, for the second and last pieces, I have reinstalled windows 10 assuming there will be improvements, and I succeeded also. USING an USB with downloaded 10 copy or ISO, whatever it is called as (I am no computer guy). Not vis BOOT route but via file explorer route

Now I want to use the USB method for the laptop still with eligible 8.1. Since I heard there are more methods of using this USB route, my question here is:

Do I boot via USB or

Go via file explorer method (using one of the 3 options under it, for upgrading it?

I thank in advance assuming I am going to get answers, which a NON COMPUTER GUY like me can easily understand

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
