    Windows 9 Screenshots Leaked

Now that I've seen the video, posted earlier, I really like what I see. I really need to play around with it before I can really make any final decision but at this point I will have to say it's a step in the right direction for my taste.

Now add in the other features that have been mentioned and this might be a winner. But will it be the OS that Win7 users will upgrade to?? Hard to say at this point but if the price is right I bet they will give it consideration.

My 2c on it so far...

  3. It will not sell if it does not offer Aero as I and others will not be paying good money for it. I was correct that Vista would be a flop, correct about 7 and I was also correct about 8. They are forcing this (insert worthless Deity here) awful ecosystem on us. There is a lot to be said for 3 D graphic and usability due to being able to see menus clearly instead of the flat boring look. Metro and the "new look sucks the big one"
Glad you like it both of you. Well that is 2 upgraders.

  5. Just say what you feel Mr Robot. So you are just going to throw away a proven system for the metro-puke-ation of the desktop. I use my machines for all sorts of tasks and if I wanted this kind of crap I would sell my 7 PC's I built and buy a MAC. It may have been designed in the early 2000's but the hardware only arrived to run it without any overheads in the 2010's.
I don't see the new UI as eyecandy, it looks flat, sick, and awful colours. I am not sure how old you are but some of us do not have such good eyes any more so everything the OS does to make things visible is good.
If M$ wants to sell this polished up turd of an OS it better have some choices and one of them can be the mode on display and another should be an aero mode.

I don't care about Aero (I disabled it on Win 7 and using Basic Theme) or eye candy stuff. That's cosmetics. I just want a plain start menu and faster OS. Those cosmetics can be done by anyone based on their preference. Eye candy stuffs should just be an option. It has nothing to do with performance (actually it just degrades performance if the system has to worry about rendering those eye candy crap).

  9. Well if it was free I would upgrade my 3 Windows 8.1 pro to the new system but Windows 7 would stay. I only ever boot to 8.1 to run the updates....oh that reminds me my other machines 8.1 needs Septembers updates......

Also if it was just the next update to 8.1 (which I believe it was and was pulled at the last moment) then it is an evolutionary product but they do not seem to have learnt anything from the past. If we do not learn from the past we are doomed to make the same mistakes again....Active Desktop...Channels...Bob.....Metro......all failed and loathed by the public.

Well, FWIW,... You can likely add me as an upgrader.

    Now that makes 3.

I agree. I don't think the presence of Areo, or lack of it, will make or break Win9.
It's way too soon to judge if this new OS is a "polished turd" or not. Time will tell and when it comes out then each can decide what they think about it.

Don't know about the eye candy not being part of the cosmetics that people look for in a new OS.
Most people who are Not users like the us, don't care too much about performance and enhanced
this or that. They just want a PC and OS that can do what they bought the machine to do.

If they encounter errors or have questions then, they come to us to help solve them.

I for one, do like the eye candy and have a PC that can handle both performance and eye candy.
If I am to buy a W9 then , it had better have all the bells and whistles I want to see in a new OS.

  14. OK three of you. You do realise I am kidding right? I would like a fast OS that has improvements over 7 & 8. What we need are choices. I would like Aero. Coke Robot does not want Aero. There was a time when I had a weaker video card and a single core CPU I ran 7 in the Default Windows Classic 2000 mode. I would like to see that return too. For corporate users desktops are locked down and they want a specific look and function. I would like it to be faster on the same equipment I have but I would also want all the visual bells and whistles. Hence Aero rounded corners, transparency etc. Looks nice IMHO. Some of you just want an upgraded 8. For those of us who did not ride on the Windows 8 train we would like a nice gradual change from 7 not some gaudy 16 colour scheme from a 4 meg video card on Windows 95.

I didn't like 8 and only moved over at 8.1.
