Windows 10: Windows + A shortcut and touchpad not working Windows 11

Says it in the title, I have done many things to try to fix this and none of them have worked. I have done a command prompt DISM scan and it comes up with no problems with windows. I have asked this question before and the person told me to do this scan and send the results, and never responded. Also I have an external hard drive that randomly disconnects while I'm using it, is there a fix to that as well?

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Step 1: Run the Hardware and Devices
troubleshooter.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

Step 2: Let us try to download and install the latest chipset driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.



A chipset driver is a type of driver that refers to what is needed for a computer operating system to work with and recognize the devices connected to the computer.
