  1. Windows account backup Recovery D:

I forgot my local password so I can't log on to my Windows 10 laptop, effectively making it a brick. The only option available to me is to do a factory reset where I would lose all of my data. However, when I log into my Microsoft account online and check for devices, I see my laptop and I see that Recovery D: BitLocker NOT SUPPORTED shows 12 GB of data. If I do a reset, can I get to that data? I've tried everything and support just keeps sending me instructions for logging into safe mode instead of reading the question.

  2. Recovery (DWindows account backup Recovery D: :)--Storage and Backup problem

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Generally, recovery partitions are hidden from the operating system and they don't display in
This PC, although they will display in Disk Management.

I think that you might have changed the backups to be stored in the D: drive that is the part of the single drive, i.e., C: and D:. You cannot store any files in the Recovery Drive as it contains only system files, so check your
Backup settings and see if the files are being backed up in D: drive and change it to some external drive for your files to be backed up.

If you just want to remove the D: drive from
    This PC
and don't want the Low Disk pop ups, then you can follow the below steps and remove the Drive Letter.

    Step 1: Press the
Windows key and the R key and type
    Diskmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

Step 2: Right click on the drive that you want to remove from This PC, i.e., the Recovery Partition drive and then click on
Change Drive Letter and Paths >click on Remove and click on
    Yes to confirm.

Step 3: When finishes, you can close Disk Management and see in This PC if you are seeing the Recovery drive (DWindows account backup Recovery D: :).

If you want to completely delete the Recovery (DWindows account backup Recovery D: :) partition from your computer, then you can refer

    Remove Recovery Drive
    .

    Hope it helps.

    Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

Data backup and recovery help thread

We get heaps of threads on this, so lets make a nice organised list of programs people can use for backing up, restoring, and recovering data.

For a quick start to this, some pointers.

    1. If you formatted a drive and did NOT write to it, recovery is possible. If you installed any data over it (such as windows, or copying files to it) then you need to restore a backup, or accept that you will have lost some, most, or all of your data.

    2. Backups are not perfect - for example, a virus that killed your machine could also be in your backup. try and backup your important data first, not your operating system and useless files - and store it in more than one place if possible (for example, an external hard drive AND on DVD)

    Now to the programs:

    Free Data recovery software
Piriform Recuva - Highly recommended by TPU users, myself included.

The following were listed by 95viper in another thread, i dont know if he's reccomending them or just listed them.
    Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier A nice one.*Smile Windows account backup Recovery D: :)
    UNDELETE 360
    Free File Recovery 1.1
    Glary Undelete
    UndeletePlus[/QUOTE]

    Paid Data recovery software

    Free backup/restore software

    Paid backup/restore software
    Acronis True Image Home
Paragon Hard Disk Manager Suite 2011 (Paid)[/QUOTE]

please people, help me fill in the blanks so i can request this to get stickied. *Smile Windows account backup Recovery D: :)
