  1. Windows Acting All Slow and Weird After Hiding then Revealing Files

The situation I have is that I wanted to show some hidden files because I want to get a Word document that I forgot to manually save, assuming Word autosaved it just in case.

The folder where Word will usually save the autosaves I believe was hidden. So I right-click in the user folder, clicked on Properties, then, thinking it's the function to reveal hidden documents, checked the box next to "Hidden". I realized that I hid all of my User files, and I realized at that point that the options were different than the one I was used to.

This led me to search for how to show hidden files. I had to click on the tab in ribbon on top that says "View", and there was a box that once checked it allows you to show the hidden items. Once I realized that I unchecked "Hidden" in all my User folders, first for each folder Documents, Downloads, Music, etc. and then for my entire User folder I had to do the "View" check to actually access the folder, not realizing I might have shown folders that were supposed to be hidden in the first place.

What happened after was that everything went slower than usual, the desktop icons look blank, and I was signed out everywhere. How do I reverse this?

    :)

ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.
