Windows 10: Windows Activation error - Upgraded free from 8.1

I keep getting an error that Windows 10 isn't activated. The error popped up after years of using it with no problem after taking advantage of the free upgrade from 8.1Clicking "Windows isn't activated. Activate Windows Now" just causes the Settings menu to freeze indefinitely, likewise if I go via Update & Security clicking the Activation tab freezes the window.Has anyone else run into this issue? And if so, how did you resolve it?

Windows 8, full or upgrade required?

Nope wrong MM, With the new windows 8 upgrades it KNOWS that it was installed clean and will throw an activation error of 0xC004F061 I have already had it throw it even on the first install saying it could not activate due to it being an "Upgrade" version on a clean install.

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.

I activated my Windows 10 from product key Windows 7
