    I have a Dell system that came pre-installed with Windows.I have replaced my host OS with Linux, and I wish to run Windows in a VM. I downloaded a Windows image from Microsoft, but it is expiring. The box does not have a license key printed on it, and the VM does not detect the internal license. How do I activate this the only copy of Windows on the machine?

    referring to page 8 of Microsoft Volume Licensing - Product Licensing Search - Appendix

    1. Standard edition

    · Standard edition permits use of the server software in one
    OSE on the Licensed Server.

    · Standard edition permits use of one
    Running Instance of the server software in the
    Physical OSE
    on the Licensed Server (in addition to one
    Virtual OSE), if the Physical OSE
    is used solely to host and Manage the
    Virtual OSE.

    Customer may assign additional Standard edition Licenses to the
    Licensed Server equal to the number specified in 2 above and run the server software in one additional
    OSE on the Licensed Server

    is it applied for windows OS or all operating system linux and windows ?

    so in my case phyical server host 50 linux VM

    standard edition license for the physical host is enough ? or i have to assign additional standard license for Linux VMs ?

    Activation and Re-activation of Windows 10 Pro VM (VirtualBox, OSX Host) not working

    I've moved a working and activated Windows 10 Pro VM (VirtualBox) from a Windows 10 Host to an OSX Host. The re-activation of the is not Working (Error Code 0xC004C003). I also moved a Windows 7 Pro VM that reactivate without problems. I tried everything
    mentioned in the process to activate. Nothing works or even outputs some useful hint or support contact.

    • used another (afaik unused) product key. not working! Same Error Code.
    • created a new VM and installed a fresh Windows 10 pro. The new machine can not be activated!

    Thus this seems to be a problem within the crappy M$ activation system.

    Any useful hint how to activate this M$ crap would be highly appreciated.

    Can I share a network connection from a VM to the host OS?

    hmm, i will assumer no responces = no, i cannot share it... lucky me, i finally got it to work in 7 with steps pretty close... Program Files > Pantech is where you will need to point windows to inorder to the card running in 7... though it would be nice to be able to share hardware and network connections from a VM to the host PC...
