Windows 10: Windows Activation is not working on my new computer I built

Hey Everyone,


I got the experience of building my first computer back in 2015 with windows 10 on it and it was licensed using a digital license that was linked to my account.


With the new graphic cards coming out I decided it was time for an upgrade so I went and built a new computer but I used a few things like my hard drives from my old computer. I ended up installing a fresh version of Windows on the boot drive and got logged in and everything but I cant get windows activation to work for me. I tried using the troubleshooter and selecting that "I changed hardware on this device recently", then selecting my old computer and stating that "This is the device I'm using right now" and then hitting activate.


I am then told that the computer was unable to activate windows with the reason being "We can't activate your copy of Windows as the digital license for this device has already been used to reactivate Windows."


When I go to my account online and look under my devices it shows both computers new and old, with one being active and the other not. How do I get Windows to know that those computers are one in the same just with different hardware?


Based on the reason message I received I'm hoping that there isn't a limit to how many times I can activate Windows considering its the same computer.


Any advice would be appreciated

Built new Computer, now Windows won't activate!

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

Generally, an end user can upgrade or replace all of the hardware components on a computer—except the motherboard—and still retain the license for the original Microsoft operating system software.

If the motherboard is upgraded or replaced for reasons other than a defect, then a new computer has been created. Windows 10 will see it as a different hardware configuration and the license of new operating system software will be required.

Now, if you have a valid product key, use it to activate Windows:

• 
  Select the Start
  
  button, then select
  Settings > Update & security > Activation.
  
• 
  Select Change product key, and then type the 25-character product key.

Activation of Windows 10 on new PC

I've recently built a new computer and am trying to activate Windows 10 on it. I have a digital licence that's tied to my Microsoft account, but when I try to go through the activation steps via the "My hardware recently changed" option, it doesn't show
my new computer on the list, though it does show the old one I'm trying to transfer the licence from. I have signed in on both with the same Microsoft account, and both are listed as devices connected to my account. I've tried signing out of my Microsoft account
and back in on both of them, to no effect. It was a free upgrade from Windows 7, but I made sure to activate it to tie it to my account.

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
