Windows 10: Windows Activation Issues

I just upgraded my motherboard and I'm having problems activating Windows.


Before I upgraded I checked online and confirmed that I have a digital licence for Windows which was linked to my old motherboard, everything I read online said that I should simply be able to do my hardware upgrade, login to my windows account and it should activate but I can't get it to work, when I click the 'I've recently upgraded my hardware' button in the troubleshooter I get a white screen saying wait a moment for around 20 seconds then it just disappears.


Further background information on my situation

• I originally built my own PC in the UK in around 2012/13, I bought and installed Windows 7 retail
• Since then I upgraded a few times but always with the same motherboard, I also upgraded the OS to windows 8 and then 10
• In December 2015 I moved from the UK to China where I now live, I brought the motherboard and most of the components with me and rebuilt it here
• A few days ago I upgraded the motherboard, processor and ram and did a fresh install of Windows 10 believing I'd be able to login and activate based on information I found online

I've followed the guidance in this reactivation guide but the activation doesn't seem to work, I did check that my account stated i have a digital license before carrying out the hardware upgrade.


I'm completely stuck, I no longer have the original windows 7 disk or product key with me which is what microsoft support asked me for on the phone but I do have a valid Windows 10 license and don't want to have to pay for it again.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

Follow either of these steps to fix the issue with the Active window hiding behind.

Method 1:
I suggest you to disable window by hovering over it with the mouse and check if it helps. To do so I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if it helps:

1. Press Windows key + X key and click on Control Panel.
2. Select or click Ease of Access.
3. Click or tap onEase of Access Centre.
4. Click on Make the Mouse Easier to Use was uncheck Activate Window by hovering over it with the mouse.
5. Check if issue is resolved.

Method 2:
I would suggest you to completely uninstall the touchpad driver and reinstall it. Kindly follow the below given steps.

1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
2. In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
